Ft. Lauderdale Deep Sea Fishing Reports

March 2011 forecast
We are expecting to have some stellar
fishing days in March. Sailfish will still be available and some days we
will have multiple catches. Reef sharks will be on the inshore reefs and
some will approach 200#s. Deep water sharks will be here as well but near
shore up on the reefs will be a better choice early on, but late in the
month larger Hammerheads will be increasing their numbers out in that deeper
water (300-400ft). Dorado (Mahi-Mahi) will be biting and that will get
better and better as the month progresses. These fish will be moving south
and sometimes at surprising speeds. Kingfishing will have some great days on
school sized fish inside of 150 feet of water. Amberjacks will begin to
school up more on the deepwater shipwrecks and there will be an occasional
grouper in the mix. We expect to see some Cobia, but only time will tell on
them as they are often erratic, but some fish will be over 30 pounds. This
is a great time of year to get offshore and enjoy our Ft. Lauderdale
Deep Sea
fishing. We really enjoy fishing here this time of year as many species are
available and a typical day yields quirt a few fish.
