Ft. Lauderdale Deep Sea Fishing Reports
Fort Lauderdale Deep Sea Fishing/ November Forecast
Fort Lauderdale’s deep sea fishing in November can be
excellent as it has been so far this month. I admit to being late with this
forecast, it makes it so much easier to write these.

Sailfish activity has been excellent following the few
cool fronts we have already experienced. We expect this to improve as the
month goes on and will follow into December and January, possibly longer.
We’ve already had better fishing for Sails than is usually seen by this time
of the year. What was missing this year were the little guys, the 8 to 15
lbs. baby Sails we usually see. Only a handful have been caught and
released.
The other activity that has been off the charts so far
this month has been the Dolphin (Dorado, Mahi-mahi) fishing. We have been
catching good numbers anywhere from 2 to 5 miles from shore. Find the weed
and birds? You’ve found some great and exciting fishing. The number we have
had lately will not continue much longer and will return to less encounters
with large groups of fish but some larger rogue Mahi’s will be seen.
Tuna should be close by as well. Skip Jack and Blackfin
Tuna are being caught with limited numbers but we expect this to increase
soon before they decrease their numbers in our area till late March or
April.
What has been surprisingly slow has been the reef
fishing. Kingfish have been tough to find and their numbers have been poor
when sought. This is temporary and another school will be along shortly
replenishing the supply.
As always, we depend on what is migrating through our
area and right now it’s Sailfish and Dolphin in good numbers.
Deep sea fishing off Fort Lauderdale has been pretty
darn good. See how easy it is to forecast 2 weeks late? Dr. Gray does it
every year with his hurricane forecast.
