Fishing in Ft. Lauderdale from March and into May can offer many opportunities. Mahi-Mahi will be moving through our area. As we get into May these schools of Mahi-Mahi will tend to move their route further offshore but some will continue to be along and just outside the reef line. Kingfishing along those near shore reefs will fluctuate quite a bit from day to day with the number of catches getting better and more often further into May. Sailfish are available and will be more willing to take a trolled bait. They will be anywhere from inside the reefs to way offshore, but many will be seen just outside the reef as usual. This time of year many are large fish.
As for bottom fishing there will be Snapper and Tilefish available. Occasional Groupers with Amberjacks getting on the wrecks late. Large Sharks will be in the area with those numbers winding down by the end of the month, but there will continue to be some big ones available.
