Fishing in Fort Lauderdale

Lots of rain here this morning and then we did thankfully get some sun this afternoon. As if the lack of sun wasn’t bad enough the fishing in Fort Lauderdale has gotten erratic over the last couple of days.

What had been some pretty good offshore conditions and good fishing late in the week went south with a south current making Friday a very tough day off the edge. Gone are the ample weed beds and the Mahi-Mahi. Our Saturday and Sunday’s charters were spent along the reef lines about a mile off the beach and we did catch some Kings along with a slew of Barracudas. The beautiful Wahoo pictured was on this morning’s charter and was added to some Kings and Bonito. There’s often a rose atop all those thorns. Good to see a nice fish, especially in all that rain.

Looking good weather wise for the upcoming week. Very little rain is being forecast and very calm seas along with highs just above ninety. The Kings should continue to bite and we will be watching offshore for the expected floatsum from Hurricane Maria’s pummeling of those islands down south to reach us and hopefully get those Mahi-Mahi going again.
