All is good, very good right now in Fort Lauderdale. I say very good because every hurricane or tropical depression that doesn’t really affect us is of course a welcomed circumstance. We have dodged a major bullet in Hurricane Florence zeroing in on the Carolina area, and wish everyone well up there. Our Capt. Matt’s ( you have seen Matt mentioned numerous times in our reports) Dad runs charters up there and that storm has an ugly face. He himself has dry docked his boat and left the barrier island. We wish everybody there the best of luck with a tough situation ready to come down on them.
We will get a small swell here under bright sunny skies, basically no real wind and the pleasant calm feeling of being in the right spot at the right time. But we are all so very aware that storm season is still in full swing.
So our deep sea fishing charters here in Fort Lauderdale continue to be comfortable and we are catching fish. Some Mahi have shown up in slightly better numbers since our last report. Blackfin Tuna have been a part of several catches and The Kings and Bonitos continue to take trolled baits on top of and just off the edges of the near shore reefs. Wahoo are now in the areas around the reefs and also holding on wrecks when those wrecks are holding bait. On a less than welcome note the bottom fishing has slowed. Speaking of that bait now is the time of year we see a lot of baitfish moving through our area and these bait schools are quite welcome as their presence can add some numbers to the occupants of your fish box at the end of a days fishing.
