Deep sea fishing charters in Ft. Lauderdale

Beautiful weather here as we past the mid point of October. Clear skies with the continued and notable absence of any appreciable amounts of rain other than a very occasional small fast moving shower. Reasonable blueish colored water right up on the reefs, a bit of a breeze, and a nice north current. In other words, just the way we like it. Our deep sea fishing charters in Ft. Lauderdale have produced some good fish on most days with only an occasional bump in the road, typical late October fishing in atypical late October weather.

Kingfish continue to be available in the immediate areas of the reefs right out front of our inlet in water of about 100 feet to slightly deeper. As almost always this time of year the deeply run braided lines on the planer rods draw the most bites. We continue to prefer a strip of Bonito thinned and shaped by our mates fished butted up to a hand tied Stan Ruer ( a retired charter fisherman and neighbor of mine) seawitch type lure as our go to bait for those deep fished lines. With the much awaited Autumn Mullet ( bait fish) run now underway we will be mixing it up a bit with the same style shaped and trimmed strips made of, you guessed right, Mullet. “Match the hatch” is not a saying only for those beautiful freashwater Trout and can weigh in heavily here as well.

Bonito and Blackfin around and slightly better Wahoo fishing. Some Mahi-Mahi around as well but don’t wander too far off the edge as they can be slim way offshore and there are a some near shore with the good northerly current flow we mentioned earlier. Nice Sailfish in the photo was a catch and release of two that took kite baits fished  in less than 120 feet of water, just off the reef line we have been referring to lately in our fishing reports for Seth and his family ( mom’s birthday). Please enjoy the photos of anglers and fish that have recently joined us here aboard the Marlin my Darlin.

Tight lines and good fishing to all.
