End of June fishing report and July forecast

As we say good-bye to June and move into July summer fishing patterns are now firmly established. Early in the morning or late afternoon will often produce the best catches. Kings in particular will often bite best early in the day, and the better sized Blackfin Tunas will often bite better late in the day.  Tilefish season is closed in Federal waters but state waters will remain open and that is where we find the majority of Grey Tiles and an occasional Golden. Occasional Sailfish activity and offshore will produce Mahi-Mahi. June left something to be desired on the Mahi and we will continue to chase them throughout July. Very possible for a surge in the Bonito numbers along the reefs in later July. Wahoo always a possibility from the inside reefs all the way into the Gulfstream waters. Wreck fishing will have some good catches. Sharks, especially Sandbar Sharks, will be here in good numbers .Fishing should be fun and many days will certainly be warm. As often is the case a day of no current can present problems getting the fish going but those days will be the exception rather than the norm. Lots of sunscreen and ice as summer is in full swing. See you on the rip.
