Seems as if the days just melt away as we are now looking at the tail end of August. A lot less daytime rain now and expect the thermometer to hover around 90. A bit of breeze out of the southeast, typical for this time of year, helps take the edge off. Two A/C units running on all charters takes a lot more off if one wishes to step inside out of the Florida sun for a moment and re-charge. We run our Fort Lauderdale fishing charters year round here and mid to late August can offer some decent action.
Kingfish will continue to be located in the vicinity of the reef lines and also on structure which is holding bait. There will be some nice Wahoo taken as the good one pictured in this report. The best ones will be taken for the most part in water less than 400 feet in depth, quite a few in water much shallower. Blackfin Tune still right here and just off the edge. The presence of Bonito racing down the edge will continue. More than a few incidental catches of Barracuda. Mahi-Mahi still on the radar such as the ones pictured with this report and taken on yesterday’s charter. Many species of sharks in the area of various species, including some Tigers.
