#### Summertime Fishing is Red Hot! This week’s fishing report from Fort Lauderdale brings exciting news for anglers. Summertime fishing has been on fire, with an unprecedented number of Bonitas showing up lately. In addition to Bonitas, we’ve been seeing a healthy mix of Wahoos, Sailfish, and even some mahi-mahi on the reefs, making for a thrilling fishing experience.
#### Sargassum Seaweed Update Compared to previous summers, we’ve faced much fewer issues with Sargassum seaweed. There’s just enough around to keep mahi fishing interesting without becoming a nuisance.
#### Offshore Fishing The offshore fishing scene has been promising. Boats venturing 8 to 18 miles offshore have reported good catches of small school-size fish weighing between 3 to 5 pounds. We’ve also seen a few small Wahoos around the floating debris, known as “floaters.”
#### Reef Fishing Fishing on the reef has been phenomenal over the last couple of weeks. There’s been an abundance of Bonitas, Kingfish, and Mahi, with a few big Wahoos mixed in. Trolling along the reef has provided plenty of action and excitement for anglers.
#### Bottom Fishing Unfortunately, bottom fishing has been slow due to the excessive Gulf Stream currents, sometimes reaching up to 3 knots. These conditions have made inshore fishing challenging. On days when the current has slackened, we’ve managed to catch a handful of Vermillion Snappers, small Almaco Jacks, and even a few larger Amberjacks on some of the deeper shipwrecks. The Mutton Snapper fishing along the reef has been less than stellar, with only a few small fish being caught recently.
#### Kite Fishing We haven’t done much kite fishing lately due to the lack of windy days. Although kite fishing is a technique we enjoy, the weather has not been conducive for it this time of year.
#### Upcoming Weeks’ Forecast The forecast for the upcoming weeks looks fantastic for fishing. Now’s the time to book your fishing charter and make the most of these excellent conditions.
