Over the last couple of weeks, fishing has been absolutely red hot here in Fort Lauderdale. A series of cold fronts moving through South Florida has triggered a strong sailfish bite, along with plenty of wahoo still in the area. Most wahoo have been ranging from 25 to 60 pounds, and several sailfish have measured an impressive 6½ to 7 feet in length.

Kite Fishing
Kite fishing has been excellent over the past few weeks as cold fronts continue to push through. This time of year traditionally marks the start of the sailfish migration, and with it comes some of the best fishing South Florida has to offer. Kite fishing is one of the premier techniques in our region, and we truly look forward to this season every year.

Trolling
Trolling is one of the all-time great fishing techniques—you honestly never know what’s going to bite next. This time of year, trolling has been very productive, with catches including wahoo, sailfish, king mackerel, bonito, mahi-mahi, tuna, snapper, and grouper. Yes, all of these species can be caught on the troll in our area, which is exactly why it remains one of our favorite ways to fish.

Bottom Fishing
Bottom fishing has been solid over the last couple of weeks, producing snapper, grouper, grunts, and triggerfish. While some grouper and snapper species are subject to seasonal closures, there are still plenty of opportunities available. Many of our guests really enjoy bottom fishing, and we’re always happy to help make it happen.

Shark Fishing
Shark fishing has been outstanding over the past two weeks. Believe it or not, several Great White Sharks have been spotted recently—hard to believe, but true! We’ve also encountered hammerhead, bull, mako, and blacktip sharks. Wintertime is the prime season for the southbound shark migration—just like people, sharks want to be in Florida for the winter!
