Overview
Over the past 10 days, fishing has remained consistently strong. Trolling along the reef has produced outstanding catches, with kingfish, bonita, sailfish, wahoo, blackfin tuna, and various snappers and groupers. All charters have enjoyed excellent results, including a few big hammerheads spotted this week.
Offshore Mahi
Offshore mahi fishing continues to run good, with mostly smaller school-size fish around. The larger late-summer mahi have not yet arrived, but should be on the way. Most offshore boats have found success, and several limits have been reported.
Trolling the Reef
Reef trolling has been excellent, with abundant bites and a lot of action and smiles. Common catches include bonita, blackfin tuna, tuna, and wahoo, with occasional larger sailfish mixed in. This remains the premier way to fish in the area right now.
Shark Fishing
Shark fishing has been great. This past week brought several large hammerheads, sandbar sharks, and a few bull sharks. Summer is very consistent for shark fishing, and we highly recommend it for guests seeking a big trophy.
Swordfishing
Offshore swordfishing has been fantastic. Most boats that have gone have had multiple bites and even caught some big 500-pounders. This is not for the novice, as swordfishing demands patience and skill. It’s one of the premier ways to fish in South Florida.
Summary
Fishing has been red-hot all summer, continuing from Father’s Day weekend and likely to stay steady through September. If you’re planning a trip with family or friends, now is a fantastic time to get out on the water.
